IMH says cuts pig iron output by 7% to 2.4 mln tns in 2021

MOSCOW, Feb 17 (PRIME) -- Production of pig iron by Russia’s Industrial Metallurgical Holding (IMH), previously known as Koks Group, fell by 7% on the year to 2.43 million tonnes in 2021 because of lengthy repairs at the Tulachermet subsidiary, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

Exports of pig iron went down by 15% to 0.9 million tonnes, while the share of domestic sales rose by 3 percentage points to 61%.

The output of coke went up by 1% to 2.8 million tonnes, while the sales rose by 2% mainly due to higher intra-group sales, the company said.

Production of coal decreased by 4% to 2.512 million tonnes, output of coal concentrate contracted by 9%, while the output of iron ore shrank by 1% to 4.764 million tonnes. Production of iron ore concentrate remained flat on the year, IMH said.
